Penn State hosted a handful of its top
2016 and '17 prospects during the Blue-
White Game on Saturday.
While the majority of scholarship
prospects in attendance were actually
freshmen and sophomores, the Nittany
Lions saw a few of their top Class of
2016 prospects make the trip, one of
whom was athlete Khaleke Hudson of
McKeesport, Pa. The Lions also played
host to two of Philadelphia's top
prospects in defensive end Shaka Toney
and tight end Naseir Upshur, both of
whom attend Imhotep Charter. Defen-
sive back Demetric Vance of Cass Tech
in Detroit also made the trip.
The class that was best represented at
the annual spring game was the Class of
2017.
Linebacker David Adams and offen-
sive lineman C.J. Thorpe of Pittsburgh
Central Catholic were back on campus.
Both have now visited multiple times
since February.
Offensive lineman Robert Hainsey of
Gateway High School in Monroeville,
Pa., was also on hand for the game.
However, the most notable sophomore
was quarterback Hunter Johnson of
Brownsburg, Ind. The four-star
prospect currently projects as one of the
nation's best in 2017.
Johnson is also ahead of most
prospects his age when it comes to visits
and relationships, so it's possible that he
will make a decision before the end of
the summer. Penn State is currently in
Johnson's top five.
There were also a few 2018 prospects
on hand who Nittany Lion fans would
do well to remember.
In addition to defensive end Micah
Parsons of Harrisburg, Pa., Penn State
hosted two running backs in Ricky Slade
Jr. of Woodbridge, Va., and Jaelen Gill of
Westerville, Ohio. Both Slade and Gill
now hold early scholarship offers from
the staff. They also have potential to be
five-star prospects. – R.S.
