■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Nov. 26 for the Pack's 56-41 comeback win over Maryland. Four days later, he was back in Raleigh for State's basketball game against Indiana at the RBC Center. Gurley is also good friends with defensive tackle K'Hadree Hooker from South Lenoir High in Deep Run, N.C. Hooke, a Wolfpack com- mitment, joined Gurley for his official visit. Gurley, who will play in the Shrine Bowl All-Star Game in Spartanburg, S.C., Dec. 17, intends to announce his choice Jan. 3 at the Semper Fidelis Bowl in Phoe- nix. Rivals.com rates Gurley as a three-star prospect, the No. 11 recruit in North Caro- lina and the No. 29 athlete in the country. Defensive Lineman Ekpen Iduoze New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy Iduoze arrived at Milford Academy af- ter graduating from Susquehanna Town- ship High in Har- risburg, Pa. The 6-4, 330-pounder was con- sidered a mid-major recruit at that point. After helping Milford go undefeated for the first time in school history, he has devel- oped into a national prospect. Iduoze had 30 tackles, including 16 for loss and three sacks, during the first half of the season alone. NC State has reportedly offered Iduoze, along with Colorado, Penn State and Pittsburgh, among others. He is also getting attention from Maryland, Mi- ami, Ohio State and Tennessee. He sched- uled official visits to Akron Dec. 10 and Colorado Dec. 17. NC State's staff has a good relationship with Milford Academy. Former four-year starting tackle Jake Vermiglio and fresh- man safety Rodman Noel were both signed from the prep school. Iduoze is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 26 prep school recruit in the country. Offensive Lineman Bryce Kennedy Southern Pines (N.C.) Pinecrest High The 6-4, 285-pound Kennedy was a late addition to the Shrine Bowl this year, and he may use that week to help figure out his future plans. Ken- nedy verbally com- mitted to UNC in October, but he soft- ened up that stance in December. Kennedy wants to enroll early, and how quickly he develops a rapport with new UNC head coach Larry Fedora will likely dictate whether Kennedy enrolls at UNC or switches, most likely to NC State. Rivals.com lists Kennedy as a three-star prospect, the No. 20 recruit in the state and the No. 23 offensive guard in the country. Athlete Abner Logan Brookline (Mass.) Dexter School Logan, who could play either running back or linebacker in college, had narrowed his list to Maryland, NC State and North- western. But question marks about his tran- script may force him to drop Northwestern. NC STATE PANORAMIC PRINT The apparent sticking point is a math class and whether or not that counts as a core class at Northwest- ern. Logan visited NC State Nov. 5 and Maryland Dec. 8. He had high praise for his trip to Raleigh. "On my visit, I wasn't expecting all I saw," Logan told Rivals.com. "They have the best facilities I've seen in terms of the stadium, the atmo- sphere. It was sold out, and it's just differ- ent football in the South. It's serious. The atmosphere was unbelievable. The crowd was really into it." Logan hopes to announce his choice in December. He is listed as a four-star re- cruit, the No. 3 player in Massachusetts and the No. 24 outside linebacker in the country. The 6-1, 215-pounder reportedly runs the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds. Lineman J.J. Patterson Roanoke Rapids (N.C.) High Figuring out what's going on with Patter- son's recruitment has been a challenge. He verbally committed to UNC in April, but the Rivals.com four- star recruit was spot- ted as an unofficial visitor for NC State's home game against Clemson Nov. 19. That was Patter- son's second unofficial visit to NC State. He also attended a preseason scrimmage. The 6-4, 310-pound Patterson is listed as the No. 9 recruit in North Carolina. He could play either offensive guard or defen- sive tackle in college. Linebacker Khalil Pettway Culver City (Calif.) High The 6-4, 205-pound Pettway, who had NC State Panoramic Print (Available Unframed or Framed) Unframed Print ($30 + $12 S&H): (13.5 x 40) on Grade "A", pH neutral heavy art stock. Pettway had always been soft on that pledge. Pet tway l isted NC State, Nevada and Washington State as the top schools on his list. Rivals.com rates Pettway as a three-star prospect, the No. 34 inside linebacker in the country and the No. 88 recruit in California.
