Adebayo joked that he's the better dunker between the two, and the alley-oop will be a staple in their games. "I'll be most likely throwing some alley- oops to him, too," Adebayo said. "He can jump, he likes to leak out, and I like to get the rock and go." NC State head coach Mark Gottfried and assistant coach Rob Moxley have been recruiting Adebayo tirelessly for more than two years. In turn, he watched NC State make a run to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. "I watched the LSU game, and [NCSU sophomore center] BeeJay Anya came up with a big shot," Adebayo said. "I think God prayed that in for him." Adebayo and Northside High went on a spirited run to the NCHSAA 1A Eastern regional finals, but fell to rival Beaufort (N.C.) East Carteret for the third time. "We had a lot of doubters this high school season," Adebayo noted. "Some people didn't think we'd make it past the first round." Adebayo averaged a staggering 32.2 points, 21.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game this winter for Northside (21-5). Now he's focused on improving. "I've been doing CrossFit, and I'm get- ting stronger and have better mobility," Adebayo said. "I've been doing that two times a week, and then I'm in the gym and weight lifting.
