MAY 2015 ■ 75 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING didn't achieve this past season that are still out there on the table. "I didn't get 50 points and I didn't get a ring," Adebayo said. "Our real goal was to get to Fayetteville, and then worry about it when we got there. We beat Durham Voyager in the semifinal and then lost to East Carteret." As for his recruitment, Adebayo is non‑ committal. "I haven't thought too much about sign‑ ing next November or not," Adebayo said. "I'll be taking my time and looking at my options." Fultz Makes Loud Statement Fultz is a perfect example of how it isn't where you start, but how you finish in high school. Rivals.com ranks the 6‑4, 195‑pounder No. 25 overall in the country in the class of 2016 and he has at least 20 scholarship offers, but that wasn't always the case. Fultz played junior varsity basketball dur‑ ing the 2013‑14 season at famed DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Md., and it wasn't until the July evaluation period when his life changed. Fultz blew up at a Las Vegas tournament while playing for the D.C. Premier travel‑ ing team, and the colleges quickly took note. He followed up by winning Player of the Year honors in the prestigious Washing‑ ton Catholic Athletic Conference his junior year after averaging 16.5 points per game. "It has really been unbelievable," said Fultz, 16, who would like to study account‑ ing in college. "It shows that my hard work is paying off. I'm just blessed really. God has given me a gift, and I'm just using it. "I had an idea that it would be a good trip to Las Vegas. I was playing up on 17s with a lot of college coaches watching." Fultz's motivation to work hard and continue to improve is an easy one — his family. "It is just being motivated for my mom," Fultz said. "It just motivates me every day that I'm not guaranteed another day. I just try and make every day the best day I can." Fultz is confident in his abilities, but not cocky, and knows what he needs to work on this spring and summer. "I'm a really athletic, all‑around guard and have a high basketball IQ," Fultz said. "I'm versatile and can play multiple po‑ sitions. I can shoot, shoot the mid‑range jumper and can finish. I play defense, too. "I am really working on elevating on my jump shot, so if I have a bigger guy, I can shoot over him. I want to evolve my defense to check a one‑to‑five." Fultz had a host of colleges follow him around April 10‑12 in New Orleans dur‑ ® ® Benjamin Franklin, one of our Founding Fathers wrote, "wealth is not his that has it, but his that enjoys it."
