  OLYMPIC SPORTS SOFTBALL (51‑6, 21‑2 BIG TEN) No. 3 Michigan sits atop the Big Ten after sweeping the league regular‑sea‑ son and tournament titles for the sixth time in program history … Head coach Carol Hutchins earned her 1,400th win at U‑M by beating Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament championship game … Freshman designated player Aidan Falk, sophomore pitcher Megan Betsa and ju‑ nior Sierra Romero were all named to the all‑tournament team following the domi‑ nant performance that included a 16‑1 romp over Penn State, a 9‑0 blanking of Northwestern and a 6‑1 victory versus the Cornhuskers … Romero has been brilliant all season, batting .469 with 20 home runs and 74 RBI … Romero now has 61 career homers, just one shy of Michigan's pro‑ gram record held by Samantha Findlay (62, 2005‑08), and 217 career RBI, which is just two shy of that program record that is also held by Findlay (219) … Senior pitcher Haylie Wagner has allowed just four runs over her last 34 innings en route to a 21‑2 record and a 1.70 ERA, while Betsa finished the regular season 26‑4 with an even more impressive 1.44 ERA … The Wolverines will be the No. 3 over‑ all seed for the 2015 NCAA Tournament and will host a regional May 15, opening against the No. 4 seed Oakland. MEN'S TENNIS (7‑17, 3‑8 BIG TEN) The Wolverines notched a 4‑2 win over Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament April 23, but fell 4‑0 to Minnesota a day later in the quarterfinals to end their season … Michigan's No. 1 doubles tandem of freshman Runhao Hua and redshirt freshman Alex Knight defeated a pair of Gophers 8‑3 to give Michigan a glimmer of hope, but Min‑ nesota won five of six first sets in singles play to take control of the match … The Golden Gophers ultimately clinched the match from the No. 4 spot, where Knight fell to Ruben Weber 6‑4, 7‑6. WOMEN'S TENNIS (26‑3 OVERALL, 11‑0 BIG TEN) The top‑seeded Wolverines won the doubles point and the first three singles matches to win the Big Ten Tournament championship 4‑0 over Ohio State April 26 after defeating Minnesota and Penn State en route to the title match … Senior Emily Bektas was the unanimous pick for Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row … She had a 31‑6 overall record on the singles court, including a 21‑3 dual‑match mark … She has earned All‑Big Ten honors in each of her four sea‑ sons, becoming just the fourth Wolverine in school history to do so … Senior Sarah Lee, junior Ronit Yurovsky, and freshman Alex Najarian, along with Bektas, were all named to the All‑Big Ten team as well … The No. 11‑seeded tennis team will head to Waco, Texas, for the remainder of the NCAA Championship after a pair of wins over Miami (Ohio) and DePaul in the NCAA regionals … The Wolverines will square off against No. 6 Georgia in the round of 16 May 15 and with a win would face either No. 3 California or No. 14 Stanford May 17 … The national champi‑ onship will be held May 19.
