PHOTO BY KEN MARTIN Top Storylines BOWL RINGS The class of 2010 went to four bowls games throughout their years at NCSU and recorded three postseason wins. Only two other recruiting classes have been able to claim that many bowl victories: the classes of 2000 and 2002. The 2000 class was on the sideline for wins in the 2000 Mi‑ cronPC.com Bowl in Miami over Minnesota (38‑30), the 2002 Toyota Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla., over Notre Dame (28‑6) and the 2003 Mazda Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Fla., over Kansas (58‑26). The 2002 class had the Gator and Tangerine Bowl wins, and added a victory in the 2005 Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte over South Florida (14‑7). The 2010 class was about as close as it got for him. He won a spirited recruiting battle for top‑10 in‑state prospects Rob Crisp, a five‑star offen‑ sive tackle from Athens Drive High in Raleigh; Tony Creecy, a four‑star running back from Southern Durham High; and David Amerson, a four‑star defensive back from Greensboro Dudley High. Five years later, the class of 20 players proved to be one of the more successful ones for O'Brien. Some players, like Amerson, lived up to their expectations and others, including two‑star de‑ fensive end Art Norman, were pleasant surprises. Here is a look back at the 2010 class.
