118 ■ THE WOLFPACKER 1. Tobais Palmer vs. Clemson, 2012 The game did not end well for NC State — the Pack lost a shootout, 62-48 — but Palmer had a record outing. He caught seven passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns, and returned eight kickoffs for 277 yards. The 496 all-purpose yards was a single-game ACC record, and it was the third most receiving yards and touchdown receptions in a single game in school history. 2. David Amerson vs. Louisville, 2011 Amerson capped his record-setting sophomore season by picking off a pair of passes against future NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. Amerson broke former UNC corner Dre Bly's ACC record for interceptions in a season with his 12th pick of the year, which he returned 65 yards for a score to give NCSU its final points in an eventual 31-24 win. Amerson would later get his 13th and final interception of the season. 3. Art Norman vs. Clemson, 2011 Norman announced his arrival as a pass rusher in the ACC against seventh-ranked and eventual league champ Clemson in Carter-Finley Stadium. Norman, then a redshirt freshman, had three sacks and a forced fumble against the Tigers in a 37-13 upset win for the Wolfpack. 4. David Amerson vs. Virginia, 2011 Amerson's seventh and eighth interceptions of the year were both key plays in an important 28-14 win in Charlottesville. His first pick set up a touchdown on the ensuing play, and his second came with the Pack up 21-14 with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. Amerson took that one 12 yards for a score to seal the win. 5. Tobais Palmer vs. Vanderbilt, 2012 Not much went right for NC State in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, but Palmer had a big game during the 38-24 loss. He caught eight passes for 111 yards and returned six kickoffs for 173 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown. Palmer was the first Wolfpacker to return a kickoff for a score in a bowl since Greg Golden did it in the 2001 Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Palmer became the first NC State player to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a season since Lamont Reid in 2002. 6. Tobais Palmer vs. North Carolina, 2012 In a game full of offense, Palmer caught five passes for 119 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown, and returned five kickoffs for 116 yards. His 235 all-purpose yards rank 13th all time in a single game in NC State history. His scoring catch would go down as the ninth-longest pass play ever for NCSU. The Pack would lose the game 43-35 in Chapel Hill thanks to a last-minute punt return for a touchdown by future NFL running back Gio Bernard. 7. Bryan Underwood vs. North Carolina, 2012 Palmer was not the only NCSU offensive player to have a standout performance in Chapel Hill. Underwood hauled in six receptions for 118 yards, including two touch - downs, extending his streak of games with a scoring reception to start the 2012 season to eight. 8. Thomas Teal vs. Florida State, 2012 Teal's disruptiveness in the middle of the defensive line was a major reason why the Pack overcame a 16-0 halftime deficit to defeat No. 3 Florida State 17-16 in Raleigh. Teal finished the contest with four tackles, including two for loss, and two quarterback hurries. He was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week. 9. Tony Creecy vs. Miami, 2012 Creecy's lone career 100-yard rushing game came at Coral Gables in what was another shootout loss during the 2012 season. Creecy rushed 19 times for 120 yards, including a 43-yarder that set up his one-yard touchdown for his lone rushing score of the game. Creecy also caught three passes for 16 yards and an additional touchdown, but NCSU lost 44-37 on a last-minute 62-yard touchdown reception by UM's Phillip Dorsett. 10. Bryan Underwood vs. Virginia, 2011 Underwood was not even supposed to play much against the Cavs in Charlottesville, but a suspension to starter T.J. Graham and a concussion sustained by Palmer during pregame warm-ups thrust Underwood into the lineup. He responded by catching three passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, including a 79-yarder. It was the first time in school history a freshman had more than one scoring catch in a game. Wide receiver Tobias Palmer had a big game in NC State's 38-24 loss to Vanderbilt in the 2012 Music City Bowl, bringing back a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown — the first TD return by a Wolfpacker in a postseason game since 2001 — and hauling in eight receptions for 111 yards.
