126 ■ THE WOLFPACKER BY TIM PEELER T o all the awards, records and other accolades pitcher Emily Wei- man and shortstop Renada Da- vis earned during their NC State softball careers, in addition to the degrees they both earned in the classroom, this mythical title might be the thing they are most proud of: honorary cartographers. Because they helped put Wolfpack soft- ball on the map. Weiman, who won 108 games and set school records in nearly every pitching cat- egory, and Davis, who became a slugging leadoff hitter and set the ACC record with 65 home runs, were stalwarts in the lineup for almost every inning of their four-year careers. "A lot of people have told us that we don't even know all that we've done for the program. "It's exciting what Renada and I have been able to do here. I'm proud of our achievements." Davis adds: "All I knew coming in was that I wanted to make a difference." And to think, there was a time that it seemed unlikely they would remain teammates. Following the two players' freshman sea- son of 2012, head coach Lisa Navas, who started the program and won an ACC cham- pionship in just her third year, was let go FEMALE ATHLETES OF THE YEAR SOFTBALL PROGRAM Pitcher Emily Weiman And Shortstop Renada Davis Elevated Wolfpack Softball To New Heights Weiman finished her career as the Wolfpack's all-time leader in wins (108), appearances (195), games started (167), complete games (128) and innings pitched (1,084 2 ⁄3), and was second in strikeouts (1,056).
