140 ■ THE WOLFPACKER and recorded the second-best time in Wolfpack history in the 200 individual medley. The following season, he would collect All-ACC honors in both of those events. In the prelims of the 200 back, Coe- tzer set an ACC Championships record before finishing second in the finals. He concluded the year with honorable mention All-America accolades in that race. He qualified for the NCAA Champi- onships as a senior in the 100 and 200 backstrokes and the 200 individual medley. He also set a school record while placing second in the 200 individual medley at the ACC Championships. JAKE FINCHER, BASEBALL Fincher was a significant part of what was undoubtedly the greatest recruiting class to ever enroll and play on the dia- mond for NC State. Pitchers Carlos Rodon and Logan Jernigan, infielder Trea Turner and catcher Brett Austin were all drafted last year. This summer, Fincher and infielder Lo- gan Ratledge joined that group. Fincher was not the most heralded member of the class coming out of Providence High in Charlotte, but he made a quick impact as a freshman, batting .300, stealing 16 bases and tying the record for most triples in a season in school history with six. The following year, Fincher added more highlights, literally. His diving catch in right field against Binghamton in the NCAA regional opener was the No. 1 play on SportsCenter's Top 10.
