JULY 2015 ■ 147 ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING At the Rivals Challenge Series presented by Under Armour in Charlotte, Parham was regarded as the second-best quarterback there behind only Kendall. As a junior, he completed 149 of 296 passes for 1,773 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and ran 75 times for 394 yards and seven scores. Over his final three games, though, Parham showed his progress by completing 61 of 100 passes for 749 yards with eight scores and five picks while rushing 27 times for 137 yards and three touchdowns. He needs to continue improving his ac- curacy. Rivals.com rates him as a three- star talent, and he verbally committed to NC State last fall. 19. DIVINE DEABLO, WR Winston-Salem Mt. Tabor High Deablo is another tall receiver in the state. He measured 6-4 and 200 pounds at a Shrine Bowl combine this spring, and was hand-timed at 4.37 sec- onds in the 40-yard dash to go with a 4.31-second shut- tle mark. He also had a nine- foot, six-inch standing broad jump and did 15 reps at 185 pounds on the bench press. Despite his athleticism, Deablo is not known as an open field threat. However, he can stretch the field and has strong hands. Rivals.com rates Deablo as a three-star prospect and the No. 64 wide receiver in the country. He has a top five of NC State, UNC, Virginia Tech, Georgia and South Carolina, but most believe this is an in- state battle. 20. XANDER GAGNON, LB Charlotte Catholic Gagnon is a prospect whose stock has steadily risen since the spring. He picked up of- fers from Illinois, NC State, North Carolina, Northwest- ern, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Vir- ginia, among others, before committing to Duke. The 6-4, 220-pounder is a tackling ma- chine, making 132 tackles and eight stops for loss to help Charlotte Catholic reach the 4-A state title game last year. He also showed some natural cover skills, getting three interceptions, one of which he re- turned for a touchdown, and breaking up a pair of passes. Rivals.com rates Gagnon as a three-star prospect. ■ Sometimes, adding just the right person to a team makes all the difference.
