Morgan Brian ◆ Soccer The rookie became the first Cavalier to earn Soccer America National Fresh- man of the Year honors and was also named a second-team MVP by the publication. Brian, a first-team National Soccer Coaches Association of Amer- ica All-American, recorded 11 goals and eight assists en route to ACC Freshman of the Year and All-ACC laurels. The native of St. Simons Island, Ga., also was one of 15 national semifinalists for the Hermann Trophy, annually given to the nation's top player, after helping the Cavs reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Meredith Cavalier ◆ Swimming The third-year was named the ACC Performer of the Week Dec. 6 for an outstand- ing outing at the Georgia In- vitational, which took place from Dec. 2-4. The Stafford, Va., native set career bests this month in uva history ◆ Feb. 26, 1921 — The Cavaliers' wrestling team recorded its first victory in its first-ever home match with a 28-6 win over VMI. ◆ Feb. 24, 1982 — TERRY HOLLAND's basketball team won their 15th game in a row with an 84-66 victory over Wake Forest. That was the last time the team had won at least 12 in a row until this year's 12-game winning streak, which ended on Jan. 12 with a 61-58 loss at Duke. WWW.UVA BOOK S TOR E S . She won the 200 backstroke with the program's second-fastest time, while she also recorded the school's third-fastest 100 backstroke and ninth- fastest 50 freestyle. Both backstroke times stood as the ACC's fastest at the time and all three results are NCAA 'B' standards. She was also a part of four relays, and all four teams notched NCAA 'B' cuts. Hunter Jumper ◆ Soccer The defender from Plano, Texas, was selected 28th over- all by the Chicago Fire in the second round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. He started 15 of his 17 games this year at left back, scoring a pair of goals and adding four assists, and finished his UVa career with 79 starts. He was a 2011 NSCAA second-team all-region selection, was named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team and earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team for the third straight year. He becomes the 43rd former Cavalier to move on to play in MLS. UVa ranks second to UCLA in producing the most MLS players all time. Nick Nelson ◆ Wrestling The native of Pittsburgh helped lead the Cavaliers to a sixth-place finish at the pres- tigious Southern Scuffle with a team-best third-place finish at 141 pounds. The tournament helped bump the fifth-year up to No. 10 in the national rankings. His only loss at the tourna- ment was to No. 5 Mike Mangrum of Oregon State in the semifinals. He boasted a 17-2 record as of mid-January and was the highest of the four Wahoos in Intermat's national rankings. Austin Pasztor ◆ Football The All-ACC selection was a crucial part of the Cav- aliers' offensive line that started the same five players in every game for the first time since 2004. The consistency up front helped Virginia record 1,984 rushing yards, their best total since accu- mulating 2,914 in 2004. The 6-7, 305-pound fourth-year also became the first UVa player to earn a nod on the Asso- ciated Press All-America team since 2008. The Langton, Ont., product earned a second-team honor after allowing zero sacks and two quarter- back hurries in 846 offensive plays.
