VAF Announces 2012 Board Of Trustees And Class Of 2014 The Virginia Athletics Foundation elected officers for 2012 and named five members to the Board of Trustees Class of 2014 at its December meeting. Barry Koval of Midlothian, Va., will serve a second term as president and Bart Farinholt of Richmond, Va., will continue as vice president. Vic Dandridge of Charlot- tesville, Va., is the immediate past president. The Class of 2014 will include Roger Emory of Abingdon, Va., and Bill Tyson of Richmond, Va., both re-elected for a second, three-year term. New members include: Anne Carter Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Rich Booth of Charlottesville, Va., and Danny Abramson of Alexandria, Va. Marvin Gilliam of Abingdon, Va., who served two terms on the Board of Trustees from 2001-06, has returned to the VAF Board as the Board of Visitors representative. He will serve a four-year term through December 2015. At the end of December, Abramson completed a four-year term serving as the Board of Visitors representative on the Foundation's Board of Trustees. He will continue his service on the Foundation's Board as a member of the Class of 2014. He received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Virginia in 1970. He captained the varsity soccer team in 1969 and earned UVa's Stanley Lerner Memorial Trophy for Leadership in Athletics. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1970-73 — including a tour of duty in Vietnam — he became principal of Abramson Properties, a real estate development firm in Northern Virginia and Washington. Hutton and earned his mas- ters degree from New York University in 1987. Booth has spent the last 20 years as managing partner with HBK Capital Management, serving most recently as co-CIO. He has been a member of the Foundation since 2005 and is an avid baseball, football and basket- ball fan. Booth serves as chairman of the St. Anne's Belfield School Board of Trustees and serves on the Board of Trustees for Cornell University. Booth, his wife, Roxanne, and their three children reside in Charlottesville. Smith graduated from the University of Virginia in 1995 and was a member of the women's tennis team from 1991-95. Her husband Dean is also a Virginia graduate and former golf student-athlete. After a career in real estate, she has spent the last eight years focused on community service and raising their three children. Having travelled with her grandfather to bas- ketball games starting at the age of 8, Smith remains a passionate supporter of Virginia athletics. The Smiths have been members of the Foundation since 1996 and are active in sponsoring VAF events in the Charlotte area. The Foundation would like to thank Amy Griffin of New York Smith City, Andy Downing of Virginia Beach, Va., and Peggy Williams of Charlottesville, Va., who completed their service on the Board at the end of December. Each served as enthusiastic, loyal representatives on the Board, demonstrating their love for the University of Virginia and its athletics program while providing extraordinary leadership during their tenures.
