"Javier is a hard-working swimmer that swims the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke," noted Michigan men's swimming coach Mike Bottom. "He is well-trained and will fit into our program quickly. His high school team has also won several championships, so we believe that Javier is coming from a place that understands how teams win championships." The product of Green Farms Academy in Bedford, N.Y., teamed up with fellow incoming freshman Myles Schalet to win the United States Tennis Association National Selection Doubles Tournament this past February, along with the Eastern Super Six Section Championships in June. They made it to the finals of the ITF International Grass Court Championships. Tishman was ranked by the Tennis Recruiting Network as the No. 61 prep senior in the nation and the No. 5 recruit from the state of New York when he committed to the Wolverines. He played his way to the finals of the Eastern Super Six singles last September and became a doubles finalist at the Eastern Sweet 16 in May of 2014. "Gabe is another guy we're really excited about," Steinberg said. "He played doubles with Myles in their junior careers and had great success. He just loves Michigan and will be an impact guy for us. We look for these guys to step in and play. Gabe has great ability, and we're really excited about him. "Maybe he and Myles will play doubles together … you never know.
