TOP POSITION GROUPS 1. Wide Receiver — Between Severin, redshirt second-year Andre Levrone, and third-year Keeon Johnson, UVa already had a nice nucleus of returning talent at wide receiver. But adding graduate transfer T.J. Thorpe from North Carolina makes it particularly special. After all, he was the one who caught the touchdown to beat UVa in Charlot- tesville last October. Judging by his performance in the spring game (104 all-purpose yards and a TD), Thorpe could be a player that fits perfectly into the role that the departed Darius Jennings played for the Wahoos a season ago. Virginia will boast plenty of size, skill and athleticism at wide receiver. Paired with the collective experience, this is the deepest and best unit on the roster. 2. Defensive Tackle — While the wideouts might be a bit deeper, not many teams in the league can call on a trio of defensive tackles like Dean, Brown, and third-year Donte Wilkins every Saturday. Dean was probably the most improved defensive player a season ago and clearly appears to be on the cusp of an even bigger fourth-year campaign. However the rotation works, Virginia's strength on defense will have to come from the middle. Redshirt fourth-year David Dean anchors a strong group of defensive tackles after compiling 40 stops, eight tackles for loss and one sack a year ago. PHOTO BY PETE EMERSON/COURTESY UVA
