VAF WELCOMES NEW STAFF
Simone Egwu and Brandon McCladdie joined the VAF staff as annual giving assistants on
July 13. As members of the development team, they will work closely on the membership and
benefits program for donors at the Contributor,
Sabre, Wahoo, Cavalier and Coaches Club giv-
ing levels.
Simone received her B.A. in Government in
2013 and her Master of Public Policy in 2014
from the University of Virginia. She was a four-
year starter on the women's basketball team,
earning All-ACC Academic Team honors and
an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship to further her
education.
Before returning to the University, Simone was
the Postgraduate Intern for Education and Com-
munity Engagement at the National Collegiate
Athletic Association. She worked primarily with
the Accelerating Academic Success Program, a multiyear grant program aimed at improving
personal development support services in limited resource athletic departments.
Brandon is a native of Augusta, Ga. He graduated from The Citadel where he earned a B.S.
in Sport Management in 2012 and a Master of Business Administration in 2014. As an under-
graduate, McCladdie was a four-year starter and two-time captain for the Bulldogs football team.
McCladdie was chosen to the 2012 FCS ADA Academic All-Star team and was twice named to
the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and the All-Southern Conference team.
Prior to joining VAF, McCladdie served as a graduate assistant in marketing at the Citadel
where he helped boost attendance, increase exposure and enhance the game-day fan experience
for the Bulldogs. He also interned for the Bulldogs development department. Most recently, he
served as an intern for NACDA and worked with NAADD, MOAA, NAATSO, FCS ADA, Under
Armour Athletic Director of the Year and the McLendon Foundation.
