In game two, Virginia pushed across three runs in the ninth inning to come back from a 4-2 deficit for a 5-4 victory. First-year infielder Ernie Clem- ent ripped a walk-off, two-run single — again off Mooney — to clinch the CWS berth. Following the Super Regional final, O'Connor again saw a microcosm of the season in the out- come. "This game is a reflection of our season," O'Connor concluded. "We hung in there, the guys didn't quit, and we found a way. That is what they have done all year long. It is amazing, different guys on different days." Game two starter Waddell noted that the team expectations do not change from year to year, and the expectation of every UVa player doesn't dif- fer, either. "It kind of goes back to the fact that we may have been missing some guys, but we truly trust all the guys here," Waddell said. "We knew if one guy falls, another guy is going to step up and that has been our approach most of the year."
