BY STEVE DOWNEY I N 2014-15, VIRGINIA ATHLETICS' commitment to All In For Excellence was evident. UVa captured six ACC champion- ships, 20 of its 25 programs advanced to NCAA postseason competition, five squads posted top-20 finishes nationally and three teams won national championships en route to a sixth-place showing in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup competition for Division I schools. Men's soccer, men's tennis and baseball earned NCAA titles, establishing a school record and an ACC mark for the most national crowns in men's sports for one season. Virginia has now amassed 23 national championships in team sports. "The first NCAA championship by our baseball team provided a great culmination to a memorable year in Virginia athletics," athletics director Craig Littlepage said in statement released by UVa. "The NCAA team titles won by the baseball, men's soccer and men's tennis programs led us to our fifth top-10 Directors' Cup finish in the last seven years. This success wouldn't be possible without the hard work and commitment of our student-athletes, coaches and support staff, and the dedication and assistance of our administra- tion, donors and fans. "It's going to take a significant effort by ev- eryone associated with Virginia athletics to be All In For Excellence and position all of our programs for success as we strive to reach our 10-year goals that include graduating 100 percent of our student-athletes and winning 12 NCAA championships and 70 ACC titles." In addition to the three NCAA championships, women's soccer placed second nationally, wom- en's swimming and diving, and rowing each fin- ished fifth, women's cross country came in 15th nationally and women's tennis advanced to the NCAA round of 16. The Cavaliers notched ACC supremacy in women's golf, rowing, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's swimming and diving, and wres- tling. UVa's six titles this past year gives it 69 conference crowns since the spring of 2002 — the most of any ACC school during that time.
