10 ■ THE WOLFPACKER Fall camp is one of my favorite times of the year. Being able to see the growth and progress made by the team throughout the summer is very satisfying as a coach. Successful teams develop a strong chemistry in summer workouts because of the physical and mental chal- lenges they must overcome together. When that chemistry transitions over into fall camp, we can spend our time focused on football, because the team is already united. I really see that brotherhood in our team this year. A lot of credit should go to our Head Strength And Conditioning Coach Jason Veltkamp and his staff. They pushed our players to the max during the offseason, and they saw incred- ible gains. When building a championship program, it is crucial for everyone involved to figure out their weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Our strength staff does a great job of analyzing our players and working with them to help them become better athletes. Not only did our players work extremely hard in the weight room, they got it done in the classroom as well. The team marked one of its highest summer GPAs. This is a great accom- plishment for us and it shows how committed everyone is to their academics. What impressed me more than anything was the work done by our freshmen in their first semester of college courses. Collectively, their GPA was 3.237. This shows me that we are bringing in players who are committed to excellence academically, as well as on the football field.
