ing about Friday [and the start of fall practice]. I'm thinking about Utah in the first game." RIVAL COACHES KNOW U-M'S NEW BOSS WELL New Nebraska head coach Mike Ri- ley and first-year Wisconsin boss Paul Chryst are certainly no strangers to the dynamo wielding the whistle in Ann Arbor. Riley served as head coach for the NFL's San Diego Chargers from 1999-2001, with Harbaugh playing quarterback there the first two of those seasons. Harbaugh came in as a seasoned vet- eran, having spent 12 years in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Indianapo- lis Colts and Baltimore Ravens. He still acted like a first-year player with something to prove, Riley recalled. "Leading up to the season, we had rookie workouts, and he was out there with the rookies," Riley noted. "They were carrying these big logs and run- ning across the field with them. And there's this veteran quarterback with these young guys, and he's just work- ing his tail off like crazy. "He was a very hard worker, a great example and very intense. I really just enjoyed him. He's a good person."
