MICHIGAN FOOTBALL year for 25-plus years, so I think it was important for them to make a great hire. "I think Jim is a great hire, obviously … added energy and a proven record as a coach. For the University of Michi- gan, it's probably a successful hire. If it's successful for Michigan, I'm sure it will be successful for the Big Ten." • Redshirt sophomore linebacker Mike McCray confirmed to The Wolver- ine that he would miss at least part of the 2015 season while working his way back from an undisclosed injury. "I'm still recovering right now," he said Aug. 6. "My goal is to be back as soon as possible, but I don't know when that will be. My job right now is to learn the playbook, be a good teammate and help the guys out as much as I can." The 6-4, 242-pound McCray appeared in 11 games last season, mostly on special teams, blocking a punt against Appalachian State that was recovered for a touchdown by teammate Ben Gedeon. It was rumored in the spring that he might have suffered a career-ending injury, but that report was dismissed. McCray said he is hopeful he will be able to compete for playing time again. • Ohio State's players are among those who still believe Michigan is the Buck- eyes' greatest rival. Michigan State has had more recent success, but that hasn't change the view from Columbus. "TSUN [that school up north], Ann Arbor, that's the real one, the real rivalry there," linebacker Josh Perry said. "That's the one everybody is so crazy about. The pride, the game where it doesn't matter what happens before. "Michigan State is pretty big now, especially since there have been two really good teams going at it the past few years. But it's not necessarily the one that has been the big game, the one with tradition and history behind it." • Michigan announced that football ticket prices and personal seat dona- tions (PSDs) would not go up in 2016, the fifth-straight year in which they'll hold steady. Season tickets will be $65 per game, or $520 for the eight-game schedule. • Former U-M head coach Brady Hoke will co-host a twice-weekly radio show called "SiriusXM College Sports Today" with Mark Packer which will debut Aug. 18 from 4-7 p.m. Redshirt sophomore linebacker Mike McCray will miss at least part of the 2015 season while still working his way back from an undisclosed injury.
