BY MICHAEL SPATH T he cornerstone of the Brady Hoke era, the 2013 class was supposed to usher in a new reign of Big Ten Champion- ships for the Maize and Blue. The 27 signees earned a No. 5 na- tional team recruiting ranking from Rivals.com and boasted future stars at quarterback (Shane Morris), tail- back (Derrick Green), tight end (Jake Butt), offensive line (David Dawson, Logan Tuley-Tillman and Patrick Ku- gler), defensive line (Taco Charlton and Henry Poggi), cornerback (Jour- dan Lewis) and safety (Dymonte Thomas). Instead, three years into their ca- reers, the majority of Wolverines from the 2013 haul find themselves on a precipice of uncertainty. There are a few, like Butt, Lewis and tailback De'Veon Smith, poised to start for Michigan, but the rest are looking over their shoulder at younger teammates slated to steal the positions they once seemed des- tined to occupy.
