Penn State picked up its 20th verbal commitment in the Class of 2016 on Sat- urday when Hermitage, Pa., three-star Andrew Pryts made his commitment o?- cial. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound safety prospect spent the past few weeks delib- erating between Penn State, Ohio State, Stanford, Notre Dame and UCLA. He ul- timately decided that the Nittany Lion program oAers him the best opportunity moving forward. "There are a lot of things to like about the program and the direction they're headed in," Pryts said. "This was a real di?cult decision for me. I had some great schools and I really put a lot of thought into everything. "The last time I was up there [at Penn State], which was a couple weeks back, I got to spend a lot of time with the players and that was big for me. I spent as much time with them as the coaches. I think that, for me, it just ended up being the best Et. It's close to home and it feels like home. Penn State has everything that I'm looking for athlet- ically and academically." Earlier this summer, most believed that Ohio State was the team to beat. However, Pryts took an unannounced visit to State College in July. That's when things really began to sway in Penn State's favor. "I actually took an uno?cial [visit in July]," he said. "I wanted to come up for the Lasch Bash [barbecue], but I had something going on that weekend and I couldn't make it. I think I ended up going up there the week aFer that. "It was a spur of the moment thing. I ac- tually just drove up myself that day. That visit was important. I then came back up to watch practice a couple weeks ago and that was also a big visit for me. Like I said, I spent a lot of time with the players that day. I feel like I really strengthened my bond with the coaches, too." Pryts joins cornerbacks Lavert Hill and Zechariah McPhearson as the three defen- sive backs currently committed to PSU's Class of 2016. He's currently the 43rd- ranked safety by Rivals.com and the 15th- ranked prospect overall in Pennsylvania. Prior to Pryts, Penn State added a verbal commitment from four-star defensive lineman Karamo Dioubate. The 6-foot-4, 273-pound prospect from Philadelphia Prep Charter had narrowed his list to three schools before making his decision. Ohio State and Rutgers rounded out his Enal choices. Rivals considers Dioubate the No. 144- ranked overall prospect in the Class of 2016 and the No. 5 senior in Pennsylvania. He's also ranked as the No. 10 strongside defensive end in his class. Penn State has recruited him for the three-technique de- fensive tackle position. As a junior Dioubate Enished with 23 total sacks. PENN STATE RADIO NETWORK WAEB............. 790-AM.......
