As each of the last 26 seasons has separated Notre Dame from its na- tional championship in 1988, it's always interest- ing to hear the annual assumption that the pro- gram is becoming more irrelevant in the college football landscape when nothing could be further from the truth. While resell ticket rev- enues don't benefit Notre Dame's bottom line, plenty of other recent "ir- relevant" endeavors do: • In 2013, NBC signed a deal to continue tele- v i s i n g N o t re D a m e home games for 10 more years, a contact that runs through the 2025 season and is worth an estimated $150 million. • Before the 2014 sea- son, Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick negotiated and agreed on a record $90 million deal with Under Armour to outfit the Irish student- athletes. • In December of 2013, Forbes estimated the Notre Dame football pro- gram to be worth $119 million, second only to My passion is running.
