FOOTBALL RECRUITING
BY BRYAN DRISKELL
A
fter this season, Notre Dame is
poised to lose five safeties —
Matthias Farley, Nicky Baratti, John
Turner, Elijah Shumate and Avery Se-
bastian. Those departures will dec-
imate the Irish depth chart because
the program was unable to land the
necessary numbers on the back end in
recent seasons.
Notre Dame's 2016 class needs to
infuse the roster with depth and talent
at safety, and the Irish are off to a good
start with two commitments already
in the fold.
Notre Dame's staff is involved with
a number of talented players, and a
good season on the field could result
in the Irish bringing in the recruits it
needs on the back end.
The following is the first of a two-
part look at Notre Dame's safety
board, in the opinion of Blue & Gold
Illustrated.
