It was his first home game at Penn State, and it set the stage for what could be a very exciting career BAD NEWS At the risk of invoking Capt. Ob- vious, the potential loss of Andrew Nelson for any length of time would pose big prob- lems for Penn State's offensive line, espe- cially with the Big Ten opener looming next week. THE TAKEAWAY Well, it was a win. Buffalo may not be the biggest name on Penn State's schedule, hav- ing never defeated an FBS opponent, but the Nittany Lions are in no position to be choosy. They'll hap- pily take this victory and the shot of self- confidence that comes with it and look to build on it next week against Rutgers. 1 RUNNING FREE Barkley fueled Penn State's sec- ond-half surge with 115 rushing yards. Probably not. The Nittany Lions had finally put it all together on the four-play touchdown drive, which included a couple of dazzling runs by freshman running back Saquon Barkley and gave the team some breathing room in what would be- come a 27-14 victory over the Bulls. "I'm proud of the guys," coach James Franklin said. "I'm proud of the guys for persevering, for sticking together, for having each other's back and finding a way to get it done."
