PREP PROFILES Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic stand- out Michael Warren is verbally com- mitted to Kentucky — but with Notre Dame's campus only a two-and-a-half- hour drive away, and a long way to go until National Signing Day in 2017, it doesn't hurt to at least take a few trips here and there. The three-star running back vis- ited South Bend for both the Irish Inva- sion camp in June and the home con- test against Texas Sept. 5. "You only get to experience this process once, my dad always says, so we'd like to take as many trips as pos- sible," Warren said. "I'm committed to Kentucky, but if my mind changed from UK, I'd definitely consider Notre Dame." The close proximity to Warren's home isn't the only appealing item about the Fighting Irish program. Notre Dame sophomore quarterback DeShone Kizer, who was ranked as the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback nationally and the No. 17 player from Ohio in the class of 2014 by Rivals, was a standout at Central Catho- lic. Kizer's home is "just around the cor- ner" from Warren's, the junior running back noted. "Notre Dame is a great school," War- ren said. "They're doing a lot of good things, and on my visit my mom loved it. "We went into the coaches room and got to be like a player. We were able to see what we would do if we were on Notre Dame's team. It was a cool experience." Warren can play both running back and cornerback, although most col- leges are recruiting him as a ball carrier, including his com- mitted program Kentucky. "College coaches like my power, how I can run through tackles and get to the second level," Warren said. "My blocking ability is also up there. I take pride in my blocking. I like to see my other teammates be successful and score touchdowns, too. "I'm still listening to other schools, but right now I'm solid to Kentucky. It feels like home there. The environment was great, and the coaches just make you feel like you are already a player there. They're doing a lot of great things at Ken- tucky. It was a great experience on my visit there." After visiting Notre Dame's campus fro the second time, Warren was con- sidering visits to Michigan State for the Oregon game Sept. 12, and a trip to Ken- tucky for the Florida game Sept. 19. — Jordan Wells Ohio Running Back Visits Campus Twice MICHAEL WARREN ✪ ✪ ✪ Central Catholic High School Toledo, Ohio Status: Interest Class: 2017 Position: Running Back Ht.: 5-10 • Wt.: 193 40-Yard Dash: 4.56 Rivals Rankings: No. 22 player in Ohio
