IRISH IN THE PROS tion. And that's just kind of my mind‑ set." If he continues to put up the type of numbers he boasted in 2014, his five‑year, $31‑million contract will be a bargain. NFL NOTES Through Sept. 10 • Running back Jonas Gray (2008‑11) turned out to be a one‑shot wonder with the New England Patriots after all. The team released Gray from the roster at the end of the preseason, going with other options at running back. So I look at it as another opportunity to work, get better and have an oppor‑ tunity to go against a starting defense and hopefully help the team win." • New England also cut former Irish wide receiver DaVaris Daniels (2011‑13) when compiling their 53‑ man regular season roster. He was briefly with the organization after being cut by the Minnesota Vi‑ kings in late August after signing with that franchise as an undrafted free agent last spring. • The Patriots placed linebacker Darius Fleming (2008‑11) on their practice squad. The former Irish player spent most of last season on the practice squad before earning a place on the 53‑man roster during the second half of the year.
