FOOTBALL RECRUITING haven defensive back officially visited with his par‑ ents, and the family got plenty of one‑on‑one time with Kelly. "Coach Kelly just wanted to meet my parents be‑ cause he didn't get to talk to them the last time I was there," Vaughn said. "They think he's a great coach and a good role model." The 6‑2, 195‑pound Vaughn has official visits lined up to LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee, but admits that the Irish will be hard to beat. "My mom thought Notre Dame was a great school," he said. "She thinks it's a fit for me. Now we're just checking out my other options." RB MELQUISE STOVALL Lancaster (Calif.) Paraclete Notre Dame is recruiting Stovall, who recently decommitted from USC, to play a slot receiver/run‑ ning back type role. He was expected to visit later in the year, but the staff wanted to get the No. 2 all‑ purpose back in the country on campus right away for an official visit. "It went real good," Stovall said. "I like Notre Dame, but I want to let the process play out and take some visits." The 5‑8, 180‑pound back is also considering Ari‑ zona, North Carolina, California and Colorado. The U.S. Army All‑American is ranked as the No. 140 overall prospect in the country and No. 25 recruit in the state of California by Rivals. WR DONNIE CORLEY Detroit Martin Luther King Corley was in South Bend for the first time since March, and while many thought the No. 16 wide receiver in the country was a lock to play at Michigan State or Michigan, he said that's not the case. "Everybody says that one team is pushing ahead of another, but they aren't," he said. The 6‑2, 187‑pound Corley said the plan is to re‑ turn to Notre Dame for another visit sometime this season. ✦ Daily Team Coverage Go behind the scenes with exclusive coverage on the Irish throughout the season.
