school's degree in his eventual selection. The Irish made sure to roll out the red carpet for him in that area, including a sit down with director of academic services Patrick Holmes. "I had a great meeting with Mr. Holmes," DeLaurier said. "And they even set up an appointment with some biology professors, because that's what I plan to major in. It was great." Gibbs Jr. — a 6-3, 185-pound point guard ranked as the No. 65 player nationally — was pumped to get Mooney on board with him. Now he just hopes to eventually add DeLaurier to the class, too. "It was a great trip, and everything went really well," Gibbs Jr. said. "John was out there; Javin was out there, which went great. It was the icing on the cake that John committed. He's real strong and can stretch the floor. He's a perfect fit. "We're trying to get Javin now. He'd be the final perfect piece to the puzzle. I know Notre Dame is still talking to Thon [Maker], too. Either one of those guys would be great. "I think Javin had a great time on the visit. He just wants to see other things — which I told him I un- derstand. But hopefully when the time comes, he picks Notre Dame." Mooney and DeLaurier bonded during their joint trips to campus. Like Gibbs Jr., Mooney's now working on adding DeLaurier to round out the recruiting class. "Javin and I really built a cool relationship over this past weekend," Mooney said. "He's a great kid and a better player. We've been texting some. "After I committed I basically told him 'You're next'. He laughed. I think he might be, but he said he's going to take some other visits and go from there. He said he really likes Notre Dame, though. I'm putting my recruiting pants on for that one." — Jordan Wells 2016 VINTAGE ND FooTbAll CAlENDArs BLUE AND GOLD ILLUSTRATED PO BOx 2331 • Durham, NC 27702 Visit our online store! www.BlueGoldOnline.com 1-800- 421-7751 Accepting Pre-orders Now!
