On the men's side, sophomore Calvin Kraft finished a team-high fourth (18:47.9) in the 6,000-meter race to help the Irish (43 points) to its runner-up showing (Purdue topped the field with 17 points). GOLF The men's team was off following its second- place tie at the 2015 Kickoff Challenge Aug. 30 at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course. The Irish next played at the Rod Myers Invitational Sept. 12-13 at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C. The women's program opened its season Sept. 12-13 in the Mary Fossum Invitational held at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. WOMEN'S SOCCER (5-0-1) The No. 13 Irish remained undefeated by tying Western Michigan 2-2 in double overtime Sept. 4 in Kalamazoo, Mich., and defeating Michigan State 2-0 Sept. 6 in East Lansing, Mich. Senior forward Anna Maria Gilbertson scored one goal in both contests. Notre Dame hosted Indiana Sept. 11 and Michi- gan Sept. 13 in home contests at Alumni Stadium. MEN'S SOCCER (3-0-1) The No. 2 Irish continued their season-opening hot streak by shutting out consecutive opponents at home, topping No. 24 USF 2-0 Sept. 4 and UAB 4-0 Sept. 6. Sophomore forward Jon Gallagher and junior defender Bradon Aubrey both scored goals in the win over the Bulls, and Gallagher added two more goals in the victory over the Blazers. The Irish returned home to host Clemson Sept. 12 and Xavier Sept. 15 at Alumni Stadium. VOLLEYBALL (2-4) First-year head coach Jim McLaughlin's team picked up its second win of the season at the Seton Hall Classic in South Orange, N.J., defeating Hofstra 3-2 Sept. 5. Sophomore Sam Fry finished with a career-high 21 kills while libero Ryan De- jarld also played well over the weekend, picking up all-tournament team honors after recording 30 digs in the 3-2 win over Hofstra. The Irish fell 3-0 to Seton Hall Sept. 4 and 3-1 to Temple Sept. 5 to round out the tournament.
