That's one of the nice things when playing a lot of games is that you don't have time to feel sorry for yourself," Clark told UND.com after the Xavier loss. ✦ Irish Roundup CROSS COUNTRY After having a weekend off, the men's and women's teams hosted the National Catholic Championship Sept. 18 at the Notre Dame Golf Course. WOMEN'S SOCCER (7-0-1) The No. 10 Irish recorded a pair of 2‑0 wins in contests versus Indiana Sept. 11 and Michigan Sept. 13, with both games held in South Bend at Alumni Stadium. Senior defender Katie Naughton was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Irish allow just six combined shots in the two victories. Freshman forward Natalie Jacobs was also tabbed with a weekly honor, picking up National Player of the Week status on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's Team of the Week. She scored the go‑ahead goals in the two wins and was tied for the team lead with 12 points through eight matches. The Irish played at Clemson Sept. 19, followed by a road game at Virginia Sept. 24. VOLLEYBALL (4-5) Notre Dame evened its record at 4‑4 on the season after wins over Mississippi State (3‑1) and Eastern Kentucky (3‑0) to open the Golden Dome Invitational Sept. 11‑12 in Purcell Pavilion. But Jim McLaughlin's team closed out its home tournament with a 3‑0 loss to No. 1 Penn State. Freshman hitter Rebecca Nunge and senior hitter Haley Bonneval were both named to the all‑tourna‑ ment team. Nunge turned in 23 kills and nine blocks while hitting .339 over the three‑game span, and Bonneval finished with 32 digs and two service aces. MEN'S GOLF Notre Dame finished 12th out of 14 teams at the Rod Myers Invitational Sept. 12‑13 at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Freshman Ben Albin led the squad with an 11‑over‑par 227 (78‑75‑74), tying for 41st place individually. The Irish hosted the Fighting Irish Golf Classic Sept. 21‑22 at Warren Golf Course. WOMEN'S GOLF The Irish opened their season by defending their title in the Mary Fossum Invitational Sept. 12‑13 at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. Head coach Susan Holt's squad turned in a three‑ round total of 887 (297‑292‑298) to finish 23‑over par, 14 strokes ahead of host and runner‑up Michigan State. Senior Talia Campbell led the Irish with a two‑over‑par 218 (74‑72‑72) to place second individually. Notre Dame traveled to the Schooner Fall Classic Sept. 19‑21 at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla. — Jordan Wells
