ESPN rates him as the No. 7 safety and No. 137 over-
all recruit in the country.
Statistics/Honors: Spent most of his junior sea-
son playing offense, finishing the season with 577
rushing yards (6.1 yards per carry) and nine touch-
downs … Defensively, he posted 15 tackles and two
interceptions … Was named to the CalHiSports.com
Preseason All-State first team and has been chosen
to play in the Under Armour All-American Game.
Recruitment: Has announced the five programs
that he plans to officially visit — Notre Dame, Ari-
zona State, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon, al-
though he noted he could still take an official visit
to West Coast favorites UCLA, USC and California …
Was originally slated to visit Notre Dame for its sea-
son opener against Texas, but that trip was bumped
back to Oct. 17.
BGI's Take: Jackson is a do-it-all player at the high
school level, but he projects best as a strong safety
thanks to his athletic skills and style of play. He is a
tough and rugged safety that can deliver punishment
with his 6-2½, 203-pound frame. He could ultimately
play closer to the box.
He has good foot quickness and stays light on his
feet, which gives him enough change-of-direction
ability to play off the hash, but he is at his best play-
ing downhill. He does a good job in coverage when
he can keep things in front of him, where he uses his
Rivals' No. 7 safety in the country, Lamar Jackson of Elk Grove, Calif., is scheduled to officially visit the
Irish for the weekend of the USC contest Oct. 17.
