PREP PROFILES Perhaps no 2016 prospect in the country has the football bloodlines of Boulder (Colo.) Fairview defensive end Carlo Kemp — at least when it comes to NFL coaches. Uncles Chuck and John Pagano are the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and the de- fensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, respectively. The 6-3, 250-pounder has offers from programs across the country, but has narrowed his list to four. Michigan, Notre Dame, UCLA and Colorado re- main on the list for the four-star re- cruit, with a couple others — notably Ohio State and Oregon — able to sneak into the mix if he picks up late offers from them. "I know those four schools all are g e t t i n g w o r k e d out for visits," said Kemp. "All those schools have great football and great academics. "I'm kind of in a bind right now try- ing to figure out where the best place is for me, but also where can I go play where I love the campus if — God for- bid — I did get hurt, can I start my life with this education." Kemp unofficially visited Ann Arbor for the Barbecue at The Big House re- cruiting event Aug. 3 and will make his way back for an official visit Sept. 26 when U-M faces BYU. "It was awesome," he said of the trip. "I spent a good chunk on football, but I also spent a good chunk with the academics, and learning how they run that. They're big with, 'Win on the field, win off the field.' It's always a competition at Michigan. You can get the best of both worlds." It's easy to see why Kemp is so highly coveted. He rushed for 11 touchdowns as a junior, while star- ring at defensive end with eight sacks and 20 total tackles for loss among his 66 stops. He has the versatility to play on the line of scrimmage or drop into coverage as an outside linebacker — where most of his top schools are recruiting him to play. He'll try shifting to that position this fall for the first time. With a January enrollment planned for whichever school he opts to attend, Kemp will have a head start on prepar- ing to reprise his high school produc- tion at the college level. Wolverine fans are hoping it happens in Ann Arbor. — Tim Sullivan Colorado End Will Pick From Four Schools ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Fairview High School Boulder, Colo.
