Graduate student defender Max Lachowecki put a header into the net only 1:12 into the game against
the Spartans, marking the second-fastest goal in school history. The Irish hosted Virginia Sept. 25 and
Marquette Sept. 29.
WOMEN'S SOCCER (8-1-1)
The No. 16 Irish kicked off their two-game ACC road trip at No. 11 Clemson Sept. 19, and fell 1-0 in
double overtime. However, they rallied to take down No. 1 Virginia 2-1 in double overtime Sept. 24 in
Charlottesville, Va.
Senior forward Anna Marie Gilbertson scored both goals for Notre Dame in the victory, including the
game-winner in the 104th minute. The Irish hosted Florida State on Sept. 27.
VOLLEYBALL (5-7)
Notre Dame opened the Purdue Boiler Box Challenge Sept. 18 in West Lafayette, Ind., with a 3-0 sweep
over Ball State before dropping a 3-2 match to South Dakota. On the final day of the tournament, the Irish
nearly pulled off an upset of No. 22 Purdue, tying the match at 1-1 before dropping the third set 28-26.
The Boilermakers went on to close out the match in the fourth set 25-16 for a 3-1 triumph.
Sophomore hitter Sam Fry earned all-tournament honors after totaling 43 kills and 14 blocks over
the three-game span. The Irish hosted Louisville Sept. 25 and Florida State Sept. 27 at Purcell Pavillion.
