GAME PREVIEW: CLEMSON very skilled, and he has a great mental- ity for a corner." The Alexander-Fuller one-on-one matchup may grab the headlines, but Williams thinks the game's most im- portant showdown lies in the trenches. And since it will have been 16 days since Clemson played a game when it kicks off versus Notre Dame Oct. 3 — a period Williams said they used to their advantage to nurse some of the injured players back to full health — he believes the Tigers will pull out a close one be- hind their home-field advantage. "I think the biggest challenge for Clemson is going to be facing that Notre Dame offensive line," Williams said. "Venables said it's the best he's gone up against. If they can hold their own against that offensive line, Clemson has enough athleticism and speed on the back end to contend with Notre Dame's passing game. "I like what I've seen from DeShone Kizer, but you have to wonder about him playing in an environment and against a defense like this. I would give Clemson the edge being at home." ✦ Redshirt sophomore cornerback Mackensie Alexander, who was named a preseason third-team All- American by Athlon, will be tasked with covering Notre Dame star junior wide receiver Will Fuller.
