UNDER THE DOME him in a position where something crazy could happen," Kelly said. "I'm still committed to that end. We've got to get him in sooner than later." Freshman tight end Alizé Jones is someone the staff absolutely wants to get more involved. He caught a five-yard pass on Notre Dame's open- ing play from scrimmage and was targeted several other times in the first half while playing 20 of the possible 62 snaps on offense. Jones had played 45 snaps through the first three games. S o p h o m o r e Ty l e r Luatua is the starter at tight end because of his blocking (he had 36 snaps against Georgia Tech), while sophomore Nic Weishar 's 18 snaps ver- sus Georgia Tech almost matched Jones. The Yellow Jackets' defensive scheme made Jones more of a target, and his three catches net- ted 19 yards. He also lost a fumble late in the first half that fortunately did not result in any Georgia Tech points. "We needed to get him involved, and we are trying to accelerate his growth," Kelly said of Jones. "There's a lot go- ing on there, a lot of mis- takes ... We just think his athletic ability supersedes some of the mistakes he's making right now. "We are just going to keep force-feeding him … and we are going to keep getting the football [to him] because he can make plays for us." With junior Durham Smythe sidelined the re- mainder of the season, Kelly said the tight end position will have to live with some growing pains. Technique and effort aren't issues, but execu- tion and consistency are. "We are living right now with some mistakes and looking at it and go- ing, 'As long as we coach it and teach it and get better week to week, we should be really good at the position,'" Kelly said. "But it hurt us at certain times in the game." No position might need to be force fed more than running back, where freshmen Josh Adams and Dexter Williams, one way or another, need to take some of the load off senior C.J. Prosise, who through three games av- eraged a remarkable 150.3 rushing yards per game Call or go online today to apply.
