BASKETBALL RECRUITING
BY JORDAN WELLS
D
uring his Sept. 19 unofficial visit to
campus, Indianapolis Park Tudor
junior forward Jaren Jackson Jr. toured
campus, watched the hoops team
practice and took in Notre Dame's
30‑22 win over then‑No. 14 Georgia
Tech, among other activities he said
he enjoyed.
Maybe the best part of the trip
though was finding out he landed a
scholarship offer from the Fighting
Irish.
"We toured campus first. Coach
[Anthony] Solomon took us around
with my family," Jackson Jr. said.
"We saw the academic advisor, and
we talked about academics and the
culture here at Notre Dame. He re‑
ally gave me a good picture of what it
would be like if I went there.
"Then we went around and saw the
different buildings and sculptures that
tourists come see. From there we went
to the football stadium for the game.
Before the game, I got to see the bas‑
ketball team practice.
"I had sat down with Coach [Mike]
Brey and talked about the ACC. We
just had a good time. Then right af‑
ter practice, he grabbed me and let
me know he was going to offer me a
scholarship.
"Spending time with them was
cool, and they were going to recruit
me hard regardless. They like that I'm
a stretch four that can handle the ball.
Being able to play inside and out, I
compliment what they do."
The 6‑9, 215‑pound junior forward
is rated as a four‑star recruit and the
No. 61 overall player in the land by Ri‑
vals, and holds offers from 10 schools
