UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Emma Albrecht — Golf The freshman from Ormond Beach, Fla., set a new Notre Dame mark for 36-hole scoring at the Schooner Fall Classic Sept. 19-21, at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., while helping the Irish to a fifth-place finish. A 2014 Hewlett-Packard Scholastic Junior All-America team member, Albrecht turned in a 3-under-par 139 (71-68), breaking the old record held by Katie Brophy by two strokes (a 3-under-par 141 in 2004). Her final-round 68 tied the sixth-lowest single-round score in school history. Timothy Ball — Cross Country The senior from Piscataway, N.J., was the top finisher for the men's team at the National Catholic Invitational Sept. 18 at Burke Golf Course in South Bend, placing third overall in the 8,000-me- ter race with a time of 25:09.2. Ball averaged 5:01.8 per mile for the event, trailing winner Chad Maloy (Canisius, 24:49.8) by 20 seconds. Blake Barens — Golf The junior from Villa Park, Calif., finished tied for second over- all with three other players at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic Sept. 21-22, at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend. Barens finished with a 3-under-par score of 210 (71-70-69) and com- piled 16 birdies during the tournament. Barens has finished as Notre Dame's top performer for the fifth time in his career. He did it four times as a sophomore in 2014, including the ACC Championships. Anna Rohrer — Cross Country The freshman from Mishawaka, Ind., and former national Ga- torade Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year captured her first collegiate victory in the National Catholic Invitational Sept. 18 at the Burke Golf Course in South Bend. Rohrer turned in a winning time of 17:20.7 in the 5,000-meter race, defeating second-place finisher Amanda Farrough (Lewis, 17:32.0) by more than 11 seconds. TOP OF THE CLASS
