PREP PROFILES David Adams thought there was a chance that Notre Dame might offer him a scholarship, but he wasn't ex- actly sure when it would come. That's why when Irish recruiting coordinator Mike Elston called Adams in late September to offer him, the Pittsburgh Central Catholic four-star junior linebacker claims that he was more than just sur- prised. "I had been talk- ing to them a lot, and I was hoping that it would come soon, but I didn't know when," Ad- a m s s a i d . " I ' m extremely excited about the offer." Adams — who is ranked as the No. 4 recruit in Pennsylvania, and the No. 5 inside linebacker and No. 110 overall prospect in the class of 2017 by Rivals — was in South Bend for an unofficial visit in July. He arrived not knowing much about the program, but left with a strong outlook on the Irish. "They have an amazing school and an amazing football program," Ad- ams said on July 31. "If you leave with a degree from there, you are set for life." When asked after he received the offer from Notre Dame what his thoughts were on the school, he reit- erated that it's a program that he likes. "It's just amazing to be on the board," Adams said. "My parents are huge on academics, and it's a great school and a good college football p ro g r a m . I t ' s a good balance." Adams already holds scholarship offers from Penn S t a t e , Vi r g i n i a Tech, Maryland, N o r t h C a ro l i n a , N e b r a s k a a n d Louisville, and has also been talking with Stanford and North Carolina. While he admits that the interest from schools around the country is nice, Notre Dame appears to have al- ready left a strong impression on him. Adams said that the coaches have told him he's a fit in the middle of the de- fense, and that has gotten his atten- tion. "They like me as a Mike linebacker on the inside," Adams said. "They're pumped up about me and want me to get up there for a visit soon as I can." The 6-2, 225-pound Adams said that the plan is to visit for the Navy game Oct. 10 or the USC game Oct. 17. — Andrew Ivins Four-Star Linebacker Will Consider Notre Dame DAVID ADAMS ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Central Catholic High School Pittsburgh Status: Offered Class: 2017 Position: Linebacker Ht.: 6-2 · Wt.: 225 40-Yard Dash: 4.75 Rivals Rankings: No. 4 recruit in Pennsylvania, and No. 5 inside linebacker and No. 110 over- all prospect in the nation
