21. 2009 MICHIGAN STATE: GOLDEN LEAP — With 5:18 left in the game, Golden Tate hauls in a long Jimmy Clausen pass for a touchdown to give the Irish a 33‑30 lead (and win) — and jumps into the Michigan State band to help slow him down. 22 AND 23. 2009 WASHINGTON: DOUBLE TIME — The Irish make not one but two goal‑line stands — including eight plays in a row after a penalty — and hang on for a 37‑30 overtime victory versus the Huskies. 24. 2012 STANFORD: THE ULTIMATE STAND — Notre Dame's "Dream Regular Season" continues when it holds the powerful Cardinal ground attack on four running plays inside the 5‑yard line in overtime to win 20‑13. 25. 2014 STANFORD: BEN THERE, DONE THAT — The Cardinal is the victim again, this time on defense. Trail‑ ing 14‑10 with 1:01 left and facing fourth‑and‑11 from the Stanford 23, quarterback Everett Golson scram‑ bles out of pressure and threads the needle to tight end Ben Koyack in the end zone for the game‑winning touchdown. ✦ Jeff Samardzija's 45-yard touchdown reception with 27 seconds left gave the Irish a 20-17 victory over UCLA in 2006.
