PREP PROFILES Notre Dame is firmly in the mix for one of the top players in the class of 2017. Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette offensive lineman Jedrick Wills has already vis- ited campus once for Notre Dame's Irish Invasion in June, and now plans to make a return trip for the home game against USC Oct. 17. Wi l l s — w h o already holds of- fers from Alabama, Florida State and Florida, among oth- ers — was joined at the summer recruit- ing event by his mother and several high school team- mates, and enjoyed meeting with Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. "It went good," Wills said of the Irish Invasion. "I like Coach Hiestand. He's definitely a good O-line coach and wants a lot of you. I'm very coachable, and what they do isn't what we do in high school. I had to catch on to it very quickly." Hiestand also picked up the ever-im- portant stamp of approval from Wills' mother during the one-day, one-night camp. "She liked him," Wills said. "She really liked the personality of all of the coaches and the campus and everything." Even with early offers from blue-chip programs across the country, another school that can't be counted out of the mix is home-town Kentucky. The Wild- cats have a verbal commitment from Wills' high school teammate Landon Young, a talented four-star offensive tackle himself who is pulling for Wills to join him. "There's not re- ally too much pres- sure to stay home," Wills told Rivals' Woody Wommack. "I'm more worried about playing high school football and trying to win a state championship with my brothers, rather than where I want to go to college. "I don't think about it. But it's defi- nitely great to joke around with Landon and get that brotherly love when we're talking about it." While he revs up for that state cham- pionship run — Lafayette was 5-2 on the season as of Sept. 30 — Wills will continue taking college trips like the one scheduled to Notre Dame. "I definitely hope it will be something different, something new to see," Wills said. "I'm wondering what their fan base is like and how good their team is. I haven't seen them play yet this year, but I'm definitely excited to go." — Jordan Wells Kentucky Offensive Lineman Is Considering The Irish JEDRICK WILLS ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Lafayette High School Lexington, Ky.
