his young career, finishing with nine
tackles.
"I think definitely I'm a downhill line-
backer," Martini said. "I like to play the
run. They run the ball 90 percent of the
time. I think that plays to my strong
suits, to go fill the holes."
Notre Dame is finished with the triple
option in 2015 — "Thank God" a re-
lieved Kelly said postgame — but thinks
it has developed a blueprint to consis-
tently slow down the attack in future
seasons. The Irish will again face two
option looks in 2016, with Army and
Navy on the slate.
"It was similar," fifth-year senior
linebacker Jarrett Grace said of compar-
ing the Georgia Tech and Navy perfor-
mances. "We thought we had played
Georgia Tech pretty well. We knew that
Navy was going to see that tape and at-
tack those areas that weren't so slicked
Notre Dame's defense — including senior safety Elijah Shumate, who recorded two tackles and an inter-
ception — limited Navy to 79 rushing yards and three points in the second half.
