OFFENSE: C.J. PROSISE
In what is becoming a theme in 2015,
the senior running back topped the
century mark and carried the Irish of-
fense. Prosise finished with 129 rush-
ing yards and 185 yards of total of-
fense, and reached the end zone three
times.
With Navy focusing on the inside
run game, Notre Dame used Prosise
to attack the perimeter early on, and
he racked up 56 receiving yards in the
first two quarters. In the second half,
Prosise was called upon to help the
Irish control the ball. He rushed for 95
yards in the final 30 minutes to help
put the game away.
DEFENSE: SHELDON DAY
Playmaking is often not the role for
defensive linemen against the triple
option, but the senior tackle changed
that against the Midshipmen. Day led
the defense with two tackles for loss
and tied for the team lead with nine
tackles.
His strong play was a key factor in
Notre Dame firming up in the second
half, holding Navy to just 95 yards
and 3.8 yards per play in the final 30
minutes.
Day's ability to attack the backfield
was instrumental in Notre Dame
slowing down Navy's inside rushing
attack, which was why the Midship-
men struggled so much down the
stretch.
SPECIAL TEAMS: NYLES MORGAN
Freshman placekicker Justin Yoon
drilled a 52-yard field goal to put the
Irish up 24-21 heading into halftime,
and sophomore punter Tyler New-
some was solid yet again.
No player, however, made a big-
ger play on special teams than the
sophomore linebacker, who drilled
Navy junior returner Dishan Romine
on the opening kickoff of the third
quarter, forcing a fumble that Irish
junior cornerback Devin Butler re-
covered. Two players later, Prosise
scored to make it a 31-21 game and
Navy never recovered.
