IN THE TRENCHES ANDREW OWENS
S
enior C.J. Prosise is accomplish-
ing feats on the field that no Irish
running back has in years, which
makes it even more amazing that
he wasn't even a running back until
seven months ago.
With 129 yards on the ground and
56 receiving in Notre Dame's 41-24
victory over Navy, Prosise again man-
aged a 100-yard effort. He's done so in
the run game in four of six contests (he
also had 98 yards against Texas) and
had 100 receiving yards at Clemson,
all of which has attracted national at-
tention. But the spotlight will be even
brighter under the lights against a po-
rous USC front seven.
"Those are the games you dream of
playing in," Prosise said. "It's going
to be an awesome atmosphere under
the lights. It's going to be a fun game
for us."
Halfway through the season, Prosise
has totaled 966 yards from scrimmage
(779 rushing and 187 receiving) and 10
total touchdowns. He is developing a
case to be mentioned on the same lists
as LSU's Leonard Fournette and Geor-
