Penn State already landed one quarter- back for its Class of 2017 when Cincinnati, Ohio, native Sean Cli7ord made a verbal commitment in July, but that hasn't slowed down the coaching sta7's pursuit of another signal caller in next year's cycle. Since the start of September, three-star Kasim Hill from Gilman School in Balti- more has been regularly speaking with PSU assistant coaches Ricky Rahne and Sean Spencer. In fact, he believes that his relationship with the coaches at Penn State is one of the strongest he's built to date. "I talk to Penn State every week," Hill said. "We've been talking a lot over the phone. It's usually Coach Rahne, but I also talk to Coach Spencer some- times. They've been mainly checking up on my season, but we also talk about school and how my family is doing. I al- ways ask about how they're doing, speci6- cally their quarterbacks, things like that." Hill has been on campus a few times dat- ing back to the summer of 2014. His most recent visit came July 18-19 for the "Lasch Bash" barbecue. He then camped the fol- lowing day. Hill said that weekend was one of his best visits to Penn State yet. Not only did he see the campus and work out with Rahne, but maybe more important, he enjoyed getting to know some of the other prospects that are either seriously considering the Nittany Lions or have al- ready committed. "I feel like I already have a good feeling for their campus and facilities," said Hill. "I've been up there a couple times now, so for me, the Lasch Bash really stood out be- cause I got to hang out with some of the other recruits. It was a lot of fun to be up there with all the other players. To hang out and get to know guys like Sean Cli7ord more, I enjoyed that." So, when might Hill return to State Col- lege for another uno8cial visit? "Me and my parents talked about it again [Tuesday night] and we decided to come on Halloween week- end," he said, referring to the game against Illinois Oct. 31. "We planned on going the weekend of the Michigan game, but I have a school retreat, so I told Coach Rahne that we were coming Halloween weekend." In addition to Penn State, Hill has earned scholarship o7ers from Boston College, Iowa, Michigan State, North- western, Syracuse and Wake Forest. However, there are two other perennial Top 25 programs that he's been speaking with regularly during the past month or two. "Clemson has been showing a lot of in- terest recently," said Hill. "I've been get- ting to know their coaches more. I also received an o7er from Iowa recently, so that's another school that has stepped up interest of late. Other than that, I'd say that Ohio State is the other school. I've been talking to Ohio State every week." Hill is currently the 13th-ranked pro- style quarterback and the seventh-ranked prospect overall in Maryland for the Class of 2017. So far this season, he's led Gilman to a 6-1 overall record.
