Archbishop Wood wide receiver Mark Webb has been laying low in recent months when it comes to unofficial visits, but the four-star prospect hasn't put re- cruiting completely on the backburner. This past summer, the Class of 2017 prospect attended a camp at Temple but otherwise didn't take any unofficial visits. He is still speaking with multiple coaches on a regular basis, though, and that in- cludes both Penn State head coach James Franklin and wide receivers coach Josh Gattis. "Coach Gattis is real cool," Webb said. "We talk a couple times a week now. We already know each other real well. We rarely talk about football anymore. It's mainly about family and things like that, but we do talk some about how the team is doing, their future, things like that. He ac- tually came into my school not that long ago to meet with my coach, too." As for Franklin, Webb said he doesn't speak with the Nittany Lions' head coach as o@en, but they do communicate over social media on a weekly basis. "He'll usually just shoot me a message in the morning to say hi. He does that about once a week," Webb said. "I don't talk to him as much as Coach Gattis, but he's also real busy, so it's just nice that he still finds time to reach out. I feel like I already know him real well." Last season, Webb visited Penn State on the weekend of the Maryland game. He re- turned during the winter for a Junior Day even and in April for the Blue-White Game in April. He said he has a good feel for the facilities and the surrounding town, but there's still one thing that he's yet to do: attend a White Out game. With this year's White Out game set for Nov. 21, Archbishop Wood's playoff schedule will determine whether Webb is able to make the trip. If he is free that day, he certainly plans to be on hand to see the Nittany Lions play Michigan. "I haven't talked to the coaches about that specific game yet, but I know that they've been wanting me to visit," he said. "If my schedule allows me to go to that game, I will go for sure. That's the one game that I do really want to cheek out at Penn State. It's just going to depend on where we're at in the playoffs." Webb also has another visit in the works. "Most of my visits are going to come in the off-season," he said, "but I am probably going to go up to Rutgers this week when they play Ohio State. My game is in the af- ternoon and their game is at night, so I'm going to try and get up there to see them play, but I'm not exactly sure right now. It kind of depends on when our game ends." Aside from Penn State, Webb has only visited Rutgers and Temple to this point. With nine total offers, and more expected once schools review the film from his jun- ior season, Webb knows that next spring will be a crucial time for him to get out and see some other schools. In fact, he already has a few schools in mind. "I'd like to get down to North Carolina," he said. "They've been talking to me some more recently. I'd also say that Pitt and West Virginia are probably two other schools that I'd like to see. I've been talk- ing to West Virginia a lot. "I also started talking to [Arizona State] recently. I had a good talk with them the other week. It might be tough to visit there, but I started talking to their coaches. Other than that, Ohio State is probably the school that's been on me the longest, other than Penn State. I talk to Penn State the most, but Ohio State has been on me a lot, plus West Virginia. I talk to those three schools probably every week. I talk to those schools the most." Archbishop Wood uses a run-oriented offense, but Webb has still been a major playmaker for the Vikings this season. Through the team's first six games, he has 15 receptions for 510 yards, nine of which have gone for touchdowns. PENN STATE RADIO NETWORK WAEB............. 790-AM.......
