2015-16 BASKETBALL PREVIEW He shot only 23 free throws and man- aged only 41 defensive rebounds, 27 less than Albrecht, a 5-11 guard. "It was a process, a long season," Dawkins said. "I started off slow, but I got better and better. I think the same thing happens this season, where I'll slowly feel myself able to do more. There's less of the un- known, I guess, and I have a little more idea what to expect. That's ex- citing. "I've been really working on my game, and feeling prepared always gives you confidence. I'm doing what I can to prepare for this sea- son … especially this offense, where you make a lot of sometimes tough passes, and have to know when to pass and where to pass. I'm improv- ing my handle, my knowledge of the game so it will just slow down and I feel more comfortable out there." He'll need to in order to raise his game while competing in what he calls "one of the best conferences in the country," especially when he's going against U-M's other talented wings just for the right to see the floor. He's competing with LeVert on the left side in the offense — Irvin sees time there, as well — and while Dawkins finished last season with 30 games played and 13 starts, and averaged 7.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest.
