32 ■ THE WOLFPACKER renovation project that began in March is on schedule, according to deputy athletics director for internal operations Michael Lipitz, who is overseeing the project. It helps that all the work is happening on the inside, with little changes to the famous building's iconic exterior. Construction contractor Danis of Ra- leigh has begun the transition for an en- closed bowl with seating for about 5,500 spectators, moving the court down about 50 feet towards the south end of the coliseum. Meanwhile, assistant athletics director Georgia Brown is gathering the artifacts that will be housed in display cases around the upper concourse. HealyKohler De- sign of Washington, D.C., is handling the comprehensive design of the display cases and other heritage items that will be in the grand hall in the north end of the coliseum. That's where all members of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame will be on per- manent display, including the most recent class of six that was elected in the spring and will honored next year when Reynolds reopens. That class includes multisport star Dave Robertson, swimming and diving coach Don Easterling, lacrosse All-Ameri- can Stan Cockerton, late football star Dick Christy, late women's basketball star Linda Page and the 1974 ACC and NCAA cham- pion men's basketball team. ■ Have something unique you think should be on dis- play? If so, you are encouraged to contact Brown at Georgia_Brown@ncsu.edu. Not only will Reynolds Coliseum have a per- manent air conditioning system for the first time, it will also have a sprinkler system (black piping seen in the picture) above the playing court. The hallway underneath the grandstands on the east side of Reynolds Coliseum previously housed ROTC classrooms. These dust-covered seats that wrap around the south end will remain in what will become a 5,500-seat enclosed playing surface. A view of the north end of Reynolds Coliseum, which was previously where the volleyball court was located. All the seats and risers have been pulled out to make room for the new Reynolds Coliseum Walk of Fame and History Grand Hall that will be located here.
