PREP PROFILES Fontana (Calif.) Summit four-star junior running back Stephen Carr might be committed to USC, but just because the Rivals100 prospect says that he's pledged to the local Pac-12 school doesn't mean that he's isn't starting to evaluate all of his options. C a r r s a i d a f t e r Irish offensive coor- dinator Mike Sanford watched him practice during Notre Dame's bye week Oct. 21, he continues to hear from a number of dif- ferent coaches and that in turn has him looking around at other schools. "I'm just taking everything in with the process," Carr said. "I'm still a solid commit to USC, I still talk to the coaches at USC all the time, but there are others." Carr, who is ranked as the No. 2 all- purpose back and No. 32 overall re- cruit in the nation for the class of 2017 by Rivals, gave a verbal pledge to the Trojans in March. He told Blue & Gold Illustrated in May that he was talking occasionally with Sanford. But after the visit from the coach in October, he said the conversations have stared to pick up. "He keeps telling me to keep my eyes open, that they are looking at me and that I'm on their radar when it comes to scholarships," Carr said. When asked what an offer from Notre Dame would do for his recruit- ment, Carr said that it would be a bid that wouldn't go un- noticed. "It would mean a lot, because Notre Dame is also a big school and one that I have always had in- terest in," Carr said. "I like Coach San- ford," he added. "I think he's good coach and a good coordina- tor." While Carr isn't afraid to admit that he likes Notre Dame, he isn't the only reason why Sanford stopped at Summit High. The Irish have made Carr 's teammate, four-star wide receiver Damian Allo- way, a priority on the West Coast this recruiting cycle, and there's a chance that the duo could play together at the next level, although the two haven't discussed it much to date. "It hasn't really come in to a conver- sation, but it would be cool to play at the same college," Carr said. The 6-0, 180-pound Carr is listed by Rivals as the No. 4 junior in California. He ran for 750 yards as a sophomore and accounted for 15 total touchdowns. — Andrew Ivins Irish Keeping Tabs On USC Commit STEPHEN CARR ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Summit High School Fontana, Calif.
