UNDER THE DOME Greg Bryant To Transfer To UAB Former Notre Dame running back Greg Bryant's next stop will be the Uni- versity of Alabama Birmingham. Declared academically ineligible this August, the junior from Delray Beach, Fla., left Notre Dame and transferred to ASA College of Miami before an- nouncing Nov. 5 on Instagram that he will enroll at UAB. Similar to Bryant, the UAB football program has gone through its own tumultuous times when it temporarily dropped the sport last year before get- ting reinstated. However, the Blazers are not scheduled to play games again until 2017. Wrote Bryant: "Never in my life would I be thinking I would go here. But, the next move has to be the best move. I'm officially committed to the University of Alabama Birmingham! Strictly a business decision. Minor set back for a major comeback. Round 2 #BLAZERS #NextChapter" Entering November, Bryant had played in only one game for ASA College of Miami, a 41-12 victory ver- sus Palmetto Prep in South Carolina, where his nine carries totaled 77 yards. He also returned seven punts for 152 yards and two kickoffs for 78 yards. Medically redshirted as a freshman in 2013, Bryant was a distant second in rushing for the Fighting Irish last year with 289 yards while classmate Tarean Folston totaled 889. He was the third option in the backfield because graduated captain Cam McDaniel, who led the team in rushing in 2013, was usually inserted for short-yardage or pass-blocking situations. This spring, the highly recruited Bryant — a rare five-star prospect by Ri- vals — was challenged for the No. 2 role by converted senior slot receiver C.J. Prosise. With Folston sidelined early in the season opener against Texas and Bryant ineligible, Prosise has thrived as the lead back, rushing for 947 yards during Notre Dame's 7-1 start entering the clash at Pitt Nov. 7.
